I have done the waypoint file for my map, but when i restart the map in the game, the bots are fools again, like there is no waypoints file. Is there anyone who had the same experience ?
I don't use at this time an .arena file, i launch my map with a win link with "+devmap mymap"
I am having the same problem and I need it fixed too. Please help someone!!!
One new thing : The problem is present only when the level is started whithout using a .arena file in a pk3.
The solution is to generate the .arena file with a text editor, and then to pack ( with pakscape ) the level and the files it needs ( don't forget bot route file ).
When this done, the level can be choosed from the JK2 menus and it works well.
NOTA : to make the waypoints bot route file, you have to launch JK2 with parameters in the command line, there is the way to follow : - Copy the JK2MP.EXE file from the GameData drectory. - Paste the link ( not paste ) on your desktop. - Edit the property of the link. - At the end of target description, add the text below : +devmap yourmap +set bot_wp_edit 1 - and save. - When you double-click on this link, the game will starts with your map, then you are in bot waypoint edit mode and you can use the tutorial from Ravensoft. :cya:
questions on the bots systems.....
1: how do I proficiently set up bot paths so they don't get stuck going around corners or just simply going down my hallways and then turning around and going back the same way, over and over again?
2: when I finally get my bot paths saved, I know where the botroutes go now (in their own folder in the pak called botroutes) but what about the arena file? I figured out that to get it to show up in the multiplayer list, I edited he games arenas.txt and put it in myself ...or was it supposed to be in the scripts folder in the pak I made? .... that might explain why I have two entries for my level...?
first : I don't understand very well your first resquest ! Do you have problem with some botroute ? i think that you have unconnected bot routes. To connect two routes, you have to place a waypoint of the second route in the same place that one of the first route. You can also turn back and put some waypoints in a return route. I have seen that routes must be continius, don't cut them , i fact there is one route in a map that crossover many times. I have to use a text editor to correct some problems i have seen in my map. Inspect very well the way of your bots, if one act not intellectualy, there is a route problem at this point. Using one way routes are very difficult to apply without using the text editor.
Understand or you have an other problem ?
Second : yes you have two entry because you added your map in the arena.txt and also in the pk3. You have just to put it in the pk3.
