So, I downloaded XSI | ModTool with the intent to make a new model for myself but I'm not exactly sure what else I need...

Any suggestions?

EDIT: I've got reference pics for the model I want to make.

Where can I find some decent tutorials on making the model? The JK2 skeleton, where can I get that? Any tips? I'd prefer if only experienced modellers explained particulars & what-not...

3Ds Max tends to be used more though should be fine with XSI. There is no JK2 skeleton anymore that you can download. But you can resetup the JA skeleton to weight and work in JO.

Learn the basics of modeling and the entire program before you go anywhere. Otherwise gonna give yourself a bigger headache then you need. Don't expect to create an have a fully working model within a day. Takes time. JO and JA modeling are fairly much the same with weighting. Only major difference is the bone setup.

Best bet would ask Psyk0Sith over in the modeling board on lucasforums. Can also check his site. Psyk0 3D Tutorials JO Modeling - LucasForums

Final tidbit is coming in fresh with no prior knowledge of how to edit anything in JO or JA(mapping, skinning, scripting, etc) might seem a bit tough starting out. Other words get you're feet wet understanding how file editing and modifying in JO or JA works and have patience. Anything you wanna ask me I'm usually over on IKBR forums or in game in JO.

I've done plenty of basic skinning so I have got my feet wet (even if it is only a puddle compared to everything else thats mod related.)

Thanks for the links. I'll check them out at some point tonight.

I read somewhere that one can take a JK2 model and work from the bones in that. Is it true or is there some bad things that happen from it?
