Are you working on a skin or on a a new model? If you are working on a skin you need to keep this directory structure:

NB: I'm using my "JADE" skin as example, this means that wherever you read "Jade" you must use your skin's name :=)

from the /Gamedata/Base directory (this is the place you must put your pk3 in).

/botfiles /models /scripts

where: \botfiles contains your Jade.jkb, multiplayer bot \scripts contains Jade.bot, whose content is, in my case: { name "Jade" model jade color1 0 personality /botfiles/jade.jkb }

Easy enough... name, model's name and bot file.

/models is the core directory: /models/players/JADE is the directory you need to put things in: there you must put your model.glm animsound.cfg sounds.cfg

Your textures in *.tga or *.jpg versions and your *.skin files that are:

model_default.skin model_red.skin model_blue.skin

Each *.skin file is nothing more than a text file, like the following (Jade's default)

hips,models/players/jade/jade_legs.tga l_leg,models/players/jade/jade_legs.tga l_leg_cap_hips_off,models/players/stormtrooper/caps.tga r_leg,models/players/jade/jade_legs.tga r_leg_cap_hips_off,models/players/stormtrooper/caps.tga hips_cap_l_leg_off,models/players/stormtrooper/caps.tga hips_cap_r_leg_off,models/players/stormtrooper/caps.tga hips_cap_torso_off,models/players/stormtrooper/caps.tga torso,models/players/jade/jade_torso.tga head,models/players/jade/jade_head.tga head_feathers,models/players/jade/feathers.tga head_face,models/players/jade/jade_face.tga head_cap_torso_off,models/players/stormtrooper/caps.tga head_eyes_mouth,models/players/jade/mouth_eyes.tga l_arm,models/players/jade/jade_torso.tga l_hand,models/players/jade/l_hand.tga l_hand_cap_l_arm_off,models/players/stormtrooper/caps.tga l_arm_cap_l_hand_off,models/players/stormtrooper/caps.pg l_arm_cap_torso_off,models/players/stormtrooper/caps.tga r_arm,models/players/jade/jade_torso.tga r_hand,models/players/jade/l_hand.tga r_hand_cap_r_arm_off,models/players/stormtrooper/caps.tga r_arm_cap_r_hand_off,models/players/stormtrooper/caps.tga r_arm_cap_torso_off,models/players/stormtrooper/caps.tga torso_cap_head_off,models/players/stormtrooper/caps.tga torso_cap_hips_off,models/players/stormtrooper/caps.tga torso_cap_l_arm_off,models/players/stormtrooper/caps.tga torso_cap_r_arm_off,models/players/stormtrooper/caps.tga

that should link your textures to the model.

And it should work... just keep the right names and you're done with skinning!

But I have no xp on new models... so if you are trying to do something more than some great skins I guess you have some more job to do, but I can't help you :(

Hope I helped you :)

hmmmmm, well how do i make the *.pk3 file? When i downloaded my last skin, which was a mara jade, it had a certain icon, like an orange box with something green beind it, i am assumeing that that is the *.pk3 icon. I opened it up with winzip and there was a folder named models, then under that was players, then under that was jade and finnaly under that was all the *.jpg's and *.skins. So now I sorta get how its done, but how to i turn it into a *.pk3. Sorry for all the questions, i am new to this.

no problem :) a pk is just a normal zip file renamed. So Zip anything (with directory structure and rename it pk3! :p

 Thank you for the .pk3 info. :furious: now my problem is, when i host a game to test my skin, in the player menu where you choose the character and lightsaber color, my skin is the very last one on the menu of characters. When i choose it, the skin doesnt work at all but my icon does.... Could it be that i used an orginal character and didnt overwrite something properly? If its important I used the character Chiss to do my skinning, the bartender guy in single player.I got him by extracting the assets0.pk3, im sure you knew that:) I copied all the files (so i dont overwrite the reall thing :)) and made a new folder, in the models/players directory called Jango, so its models/players/jango/. I renamed all the jpg's to jango_boots, jango_head and so on. Why is my character the very last picture in the menu??

in the .skin file, you may have renamed the .jpg files but not changed the directory name of where your jpgs are.

I had that problem but i blame it on being in such a rush that i didn't check the directory structure in the .skin file.

also did you leave the .skin file named "model_default.skin"

you have leave the work "default" in the .skin file or it doesn't recognise it as a skin file.

you can rename it though e.g.

"model_default_*newname*.skin"
