Hi guys, I recently downloaded a few skins, Darth Vader, Darth Maul, Wookie...umm, maybe another, I forget.

I started a Listen Server to check them out and I was getting one frame every few seconds.

I tried to connect to my LAN server and it seemed I still had the same problem... :(

Have I done something wrong? I put the pack files into the gamedata/base folder as instructed...

Any help would be much appreciated :)

Thanks

some of these models may not come with LODs (level of detail) i will not explain the entire LOD thing but i can easily say that it's very hard on your 3d card cause it has to work very hard to present the game to you, that's why it might slow down

I see, so to be safe I should only install ones with 'LOD'?

that depends, if you feel like you can handle the dips in framerate then install em all, but if you don't like the dips then i suggest you don't install them

It's completely unplayable :( Literally 1 frame per 2secs :(

Which is odd, because I have an 1800+ XP with a Radeon 8500 :-/

Thanks for the help.

woaw maybe you got some driver issues there, cause i'm playing a p3 1gz geforce 2 pro 32 megs and i got no probs, when i'm loading it takes like a second or 2 where it sticks but it works perfectly after that, clear at your systems tray as much as possible before you start gaming too, you don't want too many stuff eating at your free resources

another thing you might want to try is not only updating your video drivers, but also run defrag, cuz I noticed I had the problem but after updating my drivers and running defrag, my fps went from 40 to almost 80!! You might want to possibly adjust your Hunkmegs, which allocates how much memory Jedi Outcast may use... so, even before going into a game, load up the console, and type set com_hunkMegs (amount of ram minus 64 for windows cache (as a friend pointed out), that should help, that way maps will load faster, which will then allow the memory to concentrate on the Models... hope that helps
