lighting problem: when i test my map, all the lighting effects that I've added, don't appear, I might be making my map through the wrong .BSP option, I've been using BSP-meta (im using GTKradiant 1.4)

use the simulated old style,I use that in my maps,and they work great. If that doesnt work,I dont know.

You should use also BSM-vis and BSP-light

i've been reading 'the richard diseal' tutorial for mapping, and they dont really go over lights well, is there any other tips/ hints any of you guys know?

If you are making a spotlight you need to give it a larger value so it will display.

Never, ever, use that. It looks like yucky Q3map, not Q3map2 (hence: it simulates the old style of compiling).

Better to use this one; -light -v -fast -fastbounce -patchshadows -dirty -bounce 4 -samples 3 -gamma 2 -compensate 3

cute Gothix.... real cute. I just said it works for me. You cant see a bold difference in where the light is conpared to other areas.
