I am trying to put "The masses against the classes" into MP as in-game music. here is what I did:

1_ new folder: "newmusic" inside that: "music", then "MP" inside that" 'masses against the classes' renamed to duel.mp3

"newmusic" turned to "newmusic.pk3"

it doesn't work, why?

Because you have to open the UI\jk2mp\main.menu file (inside assets1.pk3, open the manu files with notepad), then change this param line: onOpen { exec "music music/mp/duel" ; // setfocus newgamebutton } to this one: onOpen { exec "music newmusic/music/mp/duel" ; // setfocus newgamebutton } Thne save on your desktop, and copy-paste it inside your newmusic.pk3 files (keeping the directory ui/jk2mp) edited - I realized only now that the post doesnt' show how commands aren't separated by the "TAB" spaces, so don't copy-paste these commands. Just take them as referrals...

er... I don't understand. here is what I have:

newmusic.pk3 => newmusic => [below]

ui => jk2mp => main.menu and music => MP => duel.mp3

and it doesn't work. I am not really good with computers so please have patience.

Thanks. :confused:

Well, just to be safe I'll tell you what you exactly should have :) newmusic\music\mp\duel.mp3 Gamedata\base\Newmusic.pk3 => ui\jk2mp\main.menu And again, these commands:

onOpen { exec "music music/mp/duel" ; // setfocus newgamebutton } to this one: onOpen { exec "music newmusic/music/mp/duel" ; // setfocus newgamebutton }

Must be separated by "TAB" spaces when necessary. Look at the original main.menu, and change from there the parameters (in this case, params are the directories), and don't copy paste the ones I've quoted (in case you did) Hope now it works fine :)

ok, so I want:

a folder called newmusic with music/mp/duel.mp3 in it -and- a .pk3 with ui/jk2mp/main.menu (which I have edited)

and I put both of these in Base?

I tried it again and it didn't work, here is what I have now:

newmusic.pk3/ui/jk2mp/main.menu

and another file:

newmusic/music/mp/duel.mp3

That doesn't seem like the other music mods I've looked at (and tried to copy) they just have a .pk3 and in that music/mp/duel.mp3 and thats it.

hang on, when is this music meant to sound? is it only during a duel? or a duel gametype? or just normal music instead of the standard map music?

If only I could see how the hell I posted I could have corrected it... You need to get these folders: - newmusic\music\mp\duel.mp3 - ui\jk2mp\main.menu Inside your gamedata\base\newmusic.pk3.

In the previous post I've posted some space between directories and so on, but they got deleted, somehow, and it looked the wrong way.

And the original "music\mp\duel.mp3" file is meant to be played in the MP menu.

tried that, but it still doesn't work. could you make like a template for me to look at? do one but not zipped into a .pk3 without an mp3 in it? this is getting hard.

Mmh... Here it is. All you have to do is to place the duel.mp3 file inside the newmusic\music\mp folder. Are you sure, BTW, that the mp3 file is 44100 hz, 128 kbps?
