I have enjoyed playing Jedi Outcast ever since it first came out, however, just one thing about it I still don't like: all the bots that came with the game have either blue or red saber colors. I think there should have been more of a variety, after all there are 6 colors. Especially Luke's. It should have been green. Can anyone tell me exactly how to change some bot saber colors or give me a link to a tutorial, or maybe download a mod that changes them? I'd appreciate it. Many thanks.:)

Open assets0 and browse to the folder botfiles. Open bots.txt and you'll notice the 'color1 #' at each botname, this is the saber color ;). Edit and save it and enjoy :P

Unfortunately I don't have any idea how to open assets, pk.3 , or other folders/files of that kind. What I need is a step-by-step tutorial or instructions on how to do it. Maybe a link to one might help. I have Windows XP in case you want to know.

.pk3 files are basically .zip files with their extensions renamed. So if you have WinZIP, you can rename the extension to .zip and open it with WinZIP or another archiving program. Now do what Deathspike said.

*PS* If you can't see your file extensions, go to Tools>Folder Options>Open the second tab>Uncheck 'Hide known File extension types". There. Or you can download PakScape in the tutorials sticky in the JA modding section. As JO and JA are almost the same, almost anything for JA will work for JO and vv, though there are exceptions, like versions of GTK.

Nevermind. I'll never understand. I'm sorry I even brought it up. I guess I'll just have to leave it as it is. And I tried that pakscape thing before. I have no idea how to use it or what to do with it. So I deleted it. I suppose I don't have the knowledge or the knack to do some things.

All you have to do is to go to the assets0 folder, change the ending to .zip, and work in the zip file from there. To change a file you just save or you copy it out, change, and put it back in as a replacement. Zemmurk

That's the whole problem. I CAN'T open the assets folder or any other folder. I'm trying to learn/understand HOW. For some reason I can't open it. I always get a message that "Windows can't open this file." Why? I don't know. I'd have better luck opening a coconut with a rock.

You don't need WinRAR or WinZIP at all. Just go into the gamedata/base folder, find assets0.pk3, rename it and change the .pk3 to .zip. Edit whatever needs editing, then change it back.

I don't know how, and I don't know why, but this is totally Sheep's fault.

Rename it to what? Isn't there a step-by-step tutorial somewhere on the internet that can help me instead of bothering all you good people? If not, then fine. I'll just leave things the way they are. I just don't want to screw anything up. I'm not a dummy, I'm just a little technically challenged when it comes to things like this.
