:assimilate:

Hi everybody, I have problem running JK2. Here my specs:

WinXP P4-1600 256 DDR Hercules 3DProphet 4000TX 32Mb

The bad is that the game starts and look well, but suddenly crashes.

it crashes random: once starting, once loading, once playing....

i tried all king of combination of settings (gl ext off, all low, sound low, no eax) but nothing seems to fix. I've also downloaded the update but it doesn't work.

I don't think it's my graphic card....

Is it TOTALLY uncompatible with winxp or is there a way to make it works?

thanx for all, Noldor

I have WinXP Pro Athlon 1.4Ghz 256Mb RAM Geforce2 mx 32Mb

JK2 runs fine.

Did you upgrade to windows XP? I upgraded from win 98SE to xp. i say this because when i bought "The Sims Hotdate" i couldnt get it to run... for other reasons i did a clean install for XP and everygame runs fine now... it was probably some compatibility with drivers etc.

just a thought...

XP pro PIII 500 128mb RAM nVidia TNT2 32mb graphics card

JKII doesn't run for me, same as Noldor, it will work for maybe 1 min then freeze during first cutscene or first level if i skip the first cutscene... i will try and reinstall XP, though i totally reformatted harddrive when i installed XP so it should run fine. every other game i have runs fine... i also ahve enough memory and page file left, also got bout 20gb spare so np's there....

i've also patched it to v1.03

seems liek JK II doesn't work for many ppl with XP, doesn't work for my mates either...

I thought I let everyone know that I fixed my situation and how I did it. In JK2, I set the sound quality to low and it works perfectly now. I hope this works for everyone else also. If not, sorry.

Hmggmgm, Answers I have.

I had the same problem for quite a while and finally resolved it with little to no help from support I might add. Overclocking was the issue. I had my CPU and G3 overclocked. The overclocked G3 didn't seem to matter but the CPU did. I was clocking my Celery 633 up to 1007Mhz and everything worked great except for JKII. I had to clock it down to just under 1K to run stable.

I think that JKII is really touchy. If you have anything overclocked, try setting it down. Update your drivers for the video card and the soundcard if you have older stuff. You can also try updating DX8 if its not up to date. I did all this stuff but in the end it was the overclocking that did it. The symptom was the same, locked the system down hard every time in XP Pro. Only on occasion was I able to break out. If it locks the system hard like that, its probably tied to CPU or memory in some way.

Hope this helps. Let me know if I can help because I did invest a lot of time in this issue.:naughty: :naughty:
