I am getting random Windows Stop Error's while playing MP...meaning that, whether within 2 minutes, 2 hours, or even 2 days, the screen will black out and the computer will totally restart--it "kills itself." I then have to go through a long-winded process to get the computer "back to life," and once it is, a window pops up that says that "The system has recovered from a serious error." I have no idea what could be causing this, but it does not happen with SP, and I do, in fact, have the 1.4.0 patch for JK2, so my game is as up-to-date as it can possibly be. Also, LucasArts has probably almost completely forgotten about Jedi Outcast by now, so I don't see any new fixes coming out in the future. The only further information I can give is the fact that, always, before the computer "commits suicide," it starts making a loud, low-pitched whining sound--three times as loud as it normally is.
Anyone have any views, advice, or solutions to this extremely pernicious problem?

The whining would be your hard drive. Your HDD may be about to fail. Is it a new computer? Also, it could be overheating.
I don't know if I described the sound correctly...maybe I should've said "high-pitched hum." Anyway...I did get the computer about two and a half years ago. Is that old by today's standards? And, how do I fix the overheat problem?

For the overheating, install some better cooling components to your computer. Either that or try to lower the temperature in the room.
I don't know how, and I don't know why, but this is totally Sheep's fault.
Heh. As it happens, the computer is in a corner of the room that seems to get absolutely no air at all...the area is like its own little vacuum. Well, thanks for your advice.
