Hi, i'm sure this problem has been answered before, but it's fairly specific, with plenty of barriers, so would really appreciate some help :) My little nephew has been playing JK2 single player (with plenty of cheats) but i would really like to play him online. His computer is connected through a router. We have two computers, one is connected directly to Broadband Internet, with ICS, which my second computer connects through. Our two computers have no problem playing against each other, although i have to use the private IPs, since the internet one doesn't return a server. The server is set up on the computer that is directly connected to the internet. My second computer is able to connect to it. When my nephew tries to ping my IP it times out :S also, when he adds that IP to his favourites, it appears to be displaying someone elses server! We checked all the numbers. I hope you can understand the situation. What is going wrong?! Thanks very much, Fred
yeahhhhh.. ummm... cant help ya:uhm:  sorry dude...
Well if you can't help him don't post and waste space...
Does no-one have any ideas? Is there an option to choose which network device is used when setting up a server, or will both be used? Also, how does my nephew need to get round the router, or should it not pose a problem? Cheers, Fred
search the forum for router probs, there was a good one recently which seemed quite comprehensive, saying how to open ports for use and such like
if u are running a firewall, that may cause permissions probs also, so check if u need to open a port for that too
u say another server came up when u searched; have u set the ip yourself, or did windows set this automatically? u should be able to play locally with ur computers, and others join via internet (obviously :D)
are u setting the server as dedicated? u will need to run jk2 again to play on the same computer
more questions than answers i know, but thats the nature of the beast
post back with your findings :)
btw, the title of this thread sounds like an offer lol lol lol sorry
