I recently found the ol' Jedi Outcast disk and was glad to see it wasn't in bad condition, since I've been wanting to boot up outcast again recently. But I'm having problems getting it to work. For some reason, my autorun for disks on my computer doesn't work (well, I somehow turned it off cause it annoyed me a while back, and forgot how to turn it back on) so I had to go and click the play Jedi Outcast button from the start/programs/lucasarts thing. This message came up; Guru meditation failure! Assertion Failed; "LecSetup_GetSetup(g_env["DataDir"],&m_pLecSetup)"! File: C:\CWS\cpp\FrameWork\_lfx\Source\_lfx_System.cpp Line: 231 Abnormal Termination Select Retry for an enviroment dump When I hit retry, it has the windows error report message come up. So I tried doing play outcast in safe mode, and this message comes up; JK2: v1.02a win-x86 Mar 4 2002 Initialising zone memory ..... ----- FS_Startup ----- Current search path: C:\Program Files\LucasArts\Star Wars JK II Jedi Outcast\GameData\base\tcw.pk3 (364 files) C:\Program Files\LucasArts\Star Wars JK II Jedi Outcast\GameData/base ---------------------- 364 files in pk3 files Running in restricted demo mode. ----- FS_Startup ----- Current search path: C:\Program Files\LucasArts\Star Wars JK II Jedi Outcast\GameData/demo ---------------------- 364 files in pk3 files Couldn't load default.cfg Now, the second message seems like a missing file, cause I searched all of the outcast game folders and everything and never found a default.cfg. But the first message... weirded me out. I mean, guru meditation failure? WTF is that? Anyone know what the problem is? If it helps, my computer is pretty new and overqualifies plenty to play outcast. I meet all the requirement. Thanks in advance.

The source of your second problem is this line, Running in restricted demo mode. ----- FS_Startup ----- Current search path: C:\Program Files\LucasArts\Star Wars JK II Jedi Outcast\GameData/demo Because it was running in restricted mode, it looked in the demo folder for some reason. You obviously dont have a demo folder, or have one with little in it, and it could not find the file. Makes sense. For the first one, i reccomend a reinstall. Make sure you actually UNinstall it first, from the Add/Remove Programs applet, the install again from the disk. It'll take like a half hour, tops.

I doubt it'd take that long, since when I first installed it when I first had the game, it went pretty quickly. The problem is the first error comes up whenever I try to load the game by going to My Computer and double clicking the drive (like I said, I don't know how to turn my autorun back on) so I can't even get the menu up to even click install :(

Where's your pak0.pk3 and such? It doesn't seem to detect it?

I think I may have discovered one of the problems. Or some problem anyways. I went to the add/remove programs list to try and uninstall/reinstall it, but it said it couldn't find the setup/installation program on the disk. I searched the files and sure enough, I can't find any setup program on it. So it's now not only impossible to reinstall, but to uninstall it too. Any idea what the hell happened to it? How to fix it?

The same thing happened to us with our Jedi Outcast, we couldn't install or uninstall it. We did get it to work again by basically wiping out our hard drive and reinstalling Windows, or something like that, although there were other problems with our computer that led us to do that. I wouldn't recommend doing that, though, just for the game.

Edit your registry. Remove the keys that like 'say' JA is installed. Google it.

You can also right-click CD drives and select "Autoplay" if you really want yer autoplay.
