ok. jedi outcast and jedi academy works perfectly on this computer. but i cant get it to run on my brothers computer. he REALLY wants to play this game. he saying that he can kick my @ss and stuff and i really want to play with him but it wont work on his computer. it gives him a opengl error message when he executes the game. he only has less than 4mb video card. is there a way to make the game run? even with ugly grahpics he doesnt care. is there a way to bypass that check for opengl? thanks a lot.

His hardware must meet the minimum requirements to play, and it looks like his video card doesn't. You can get a video card that meets the minimum requirements (like a GeForce2 MX) for less than $50 if you shop around, and he will need a better video card anyway to play other games.

Update to the latest drivers. Use :google: to find them. Just right-click on the desktop and goto properties then to Settings. Just search for the name of your Graphics card and then add "Drivers" or "Driver" to the end. http://www.google.co.uk - Either use the search or groups. Groups will just give you a few subjects with questions and answers to the problem. Search, well, you know what that is! Search's for sites on the subject...

JK3 didn't work for me until I did this. What version computer does he have? Windows 98 SE+ should allow JK2 to run, I don't know about JK3. My bro has Windows 98 SE and JK2 works fine. Jk3 doesn't.

I don't know about that memory thing and how much mine has compered with his.

Anyway, thats the only other alternative to buying one that I can think of.

JK3 works fine with win 98 SE, in fact some say it works better under win 98SE than XP (home). However, I would not , now I have had a year to compare them both, it might have greater minimum RAM requirements but it is actually far superior to W98, even if it is only for the fact that you can roll drivers back to a previous version if necessary without too much hassle.

Win SE is prob still the most stable O/S of recent Microsoft years :)

but the 4 meg mem vid card (or less...) i would reckon u have no chance, what processor has he got?

i can run jk2 on a AMD 450mhz with a voodoo3 16meg with all the settings on minimum (640x480x16), and it is 'ok' (i only say 'ok' btw) but with only a 4 meg card the strain is going to be on the processor. i'm guessing, but anything less than around a 1.5 ghz processor (with that vid card) is going to be dicey, if not impossible

It says 32MB required. Seems like "no chance" for JK3. I've lost the case for JK2. Well, best of luck on finding a solution. ;)

Aionxn, JK2 you can manage to play with texture set to 16 bit, but JK3 uses first and foremost 32 bit textures, so when you turn the setting down to 16 bit, you get crappy looking textures with some unpredictable visual effects, like sparkling where there should be non and so on. if you have a system that only uses such a small vid card, then it is likely your motherboard will have considerable limitations as to what cards u can use. better do some net searching before u buy so u do not buy one your pc cannot deal with.
