My computer specs are these:

Windows XP Home Edition Compaq Presario Intel(R) Celeron CPU 1200MHz ( 1.2 ) 256 MB of RAM Intel(R) 82815 Graphics Controller ( That's the graphics card. It sucks, I know. )

I wish I could say everything has been running smoothly up until now. When I first got the game, like most I'm sure, I had to tweak the video settings to fit my computer so it would run correctly at a decent speed. I have a problem with viewing the game in a " windowed version ", as it states, so I have to click cancel whenever I start a game to try a full screen version. That's one problem I have, that I am unable to fix. My screen resolution is at 1024 x 768 as well, which I've tried to have it set as in the video settings, but it lags too much. I reduced the resolution size in the video settings, and it seems to run fine.

Now the problem I have now is a killer. I can't even play the game at all with this one, which pissed me off. A few times in the past I had problems with the game skipping and freezing whenever I started up, but it wasn't constant. It happened randomly, and most of the time when I closed it and restarted it up it worked. In both Single Player and Multi Player modes it happens. I can't even get to the menu screen. The sound skips repeatedly, and the video skips along with it. What could the problem be? My DirectX checks out fine by the system check. Hell, everything checks out fine. It all passes. I have DirectX 8.01 on my computer, the latest version.

Now you're probably wondering if I have a burnt and cracked copy of the game, which I don't. I bought the game, but due to some financial difficulties I had to return it, but I did burn it on another disc so I could keep it. So, hey, I did buy it. I'm not one of those ripping-whores. In any case, could that be the problem? Having a burnt copy? The disc itself is fine, no scratches or smudges. It just started one day out of the blue and I'm unable to fix it. I have no leads either.

I've played the game for about a month or so now, and I haven't had a problem like this. I've played Multi Player online before, and haven't had a problem. So it isn't like it's never worked before. I don't remember making any serious changes to my system or the game for that matter that could trigger this to happen. All I did was download a few maps and skins from JK2Files.com, and put the .pk3 files in the base directory. I never installed any mods though. Even still, after I did that, it worked a few days ago so that couldn't necessarily be what did it in.

Well, my apologies for the length of this explanation, but I've seen people get burnt for there problems which they never even bothered to describe correctly. To each their own I say. I've been reading over these Forums to solve a few problems by myself, but it's time I posted myself. I'm hoping one of the few to respond to this is EXiT. Thanks for your time, and any responses will be appreciated.

ok i didn't read the entire post, but teh skipping of sound and screen can probably be blamed on your graphics card, get another one, my friend bought a geforce 2 gts/pro 64 megs for 100€ (97$) and the game runs nicely on a geforce too, if you can spot a bit more money go for the geforce 4 ti 4200 or geforce 3 ti 500 both nice cards and you'll probably be happy with it for quite some time.

another possibility is that you're low on system resources, hit ctrl-alt-del and try to close all the programs you don't need to keep your comp running, run the game again if it still skips then it's your card

Thanks for the reply. I thought about it being my graphics card, but it worked fine once before. Can it just go like that? I don't see why the graphics card would stop functioning properly. I just downloaded more drivers for it, and it still isn't working. I definitely want to get another one, but that will take some time. Those GeForce's are nice too. It couldn't be my system resources though, because I never have any programs running in the background.

then it's either the GFX card or a bottleneck somewhere in your system, but i don't know nothing about bottlenecks so i can't help you if that were it. anyways if you have a friend who has a good GFX card (geforce 2 to 4) ask him to bring it over and plug it into your comp, play jedi knight on your comp with his card and see if it's still buggy then you will have your answer i guess
