Hey all. I made a model in 3ds max. I exported it from 3ds max and imported it into Gtk radiant. The model shows up correctly, but I cannot texturize it. I click on it and when I assign texture to it, nothing happens. It just stays the same. How do I make this work?

You texture it before putting it in GTK Radiant. At least that's how it normally works for models (I guess you could texture it after.. but you can't texture a model in Radiant).

Can 3ds max export to a .map? If it can, do so. You can texture it in Radiant and then export it as an ASE model using q3map2.

What is it a model of?

Indeed, you actually have to uvw map and texture the model inside 3DS Max itself, as you would any other model.

Radiant is only able to apply textures to brushes.

I don't know how, and I don't know why, but this is totally Sheep's fault.

Not always. If you can get it into Radiant as a .map, you can use it normally. I do it all the time.

Blender can export to a .map, too (it's kinda messy, though).

I think the operative word in this thread is model. A *.map file would not be considered to be a model by game standards.

I cannot export as .map in 3ds max. I exported is as an object file. I tried texturizing it in 3ds max, but when I import it in gtk radiant it says shader not found on the model. I tried opening it up in the game but the model is not textured ingame either.

It is a model. Apparently you are not familiar with the process...

You will need to follow Kouen's instructions and UV map it, then. Radiant has no idea what texture to use, so you'll have to make one in 3Ds.

*.ASE != *.map.

Huh....? Export to a .map to get it into Radiant, then compile it to an ASE with q3map2...in the end, it does come out to a model.

But since 3Ds max has no .map exporter, he's stuck UV mapping.
