Ok, Sept. 16th was the 5th anniversary of jk3. Maybe we should start another attempt on getting the sp source code for jk2/jk3 released. Thing is, there was a recent post allegedly by Mr. Gummelt (from Raven) that brought this matter up, so - if we could get Mr. Gummelt's support - chances might not be too bad this time. The question is, how should we organize such a request? Any ideas?

I think a large topic showing support would be a good idea since those petition websites can be spammed with signatures..

Actually, I was hoping that we could persuade Mr. Gummelt to get in contact with LucasArts over this matter, and then provide any support necessary in any form deemed most adequate. Either that or we find out how people got Paramount to release the sp SDK for Elite Force I, and then do likewise with LucasArts, he he.

Well a better course of action would be to start a topic on LucasArts' official forums.

Dunno what you intend to get done around here, I'd be very surprised if LucasArts gave us the time of day if the site staff didn't go bugging them first, since they never have done in the past. :uhm:

The official forums will have LucasArts representatives checking in, so unlike here, the people who need to see this will see it if it's posted over there.

Hmm... Released SP code would indeed be a real gift but I wouldn't hold my breath for it. Not only would LucasArts's myriad lawyers need to come to an agreement over all the legal issues but somebody at Raven would need to dig around in their dusty back-up tape room to find all the files and pack them in some sort of a releaseable package making sure everything is in, plus any text files they would deem necessary to accompany them. And then someone would need to handle the actual physical release.

Sounds like it's time to negotiate a FileFront exclusive....

Shit, did I say that out loud? :lookaround:

Thing is, this seems to be the most active forum when it comes to modding jk3, and hence the best grounds to gather support for such a request. Heck, jk3 isn't even addressed in LucasArts' forum any more. Plus, the man himself Michael Gummelt seems to have posted here. I thought it best to first discuss a promising tactical approach here and than get the request into the right channels. I guess if we could get Mr. Gummelt (who after all has written some of the code we're talking about) to approach LucasArts, the chances of success were much better. IDK
