Some of you may or may not recall that awhile ago I produced what I then dubbed as the 'Star Wars Clone Wars Fan Comic', which used a combination of JKA and Adobe Photoshop to produce an online comic.

The first 'incarnation' of the comic wasn't brilliant - there was a lot of experimenting with new ideas, testing out different methods, etc - but in the past week or so I've dug out a pen to begin mapping out a storyline for a new comic series, fired up the old JKA and begun the process of putting the comic to paper...well, the screen anyway.

The first issue is completed and can be found here:

Star Wars - Home

Since this is pretty much modding-central for the JKA community, I'd really like to hear what you guys think of it; bear in mind that the first issue of the comic doesn't really dig into the main storyline much - Issue 2 onwards will handle that - but it's more of a self-contained introduction to both characters that you know, and those that you don't.

Any and all feedback is welcome, from whether you think dialogue resembles that of characters like Anakin and Obi-Wan, to whether the layout is any good.

- Kualan

I'm sorry, I must be stupid, but how do you view the actual comic? I just see the cover.

Ah, don't worry, you're not stupid my friend. The website appears to have been hit by a glitch wherein clicking on 'The Comic' takes you back to the home page; I've filed a request for help from the technical staff. All should be fixed soon. I'll let you all know when it's fixed. =)

UPDATE: After that technical glitch, I've re-uploaded the whole issue, and everything seems to be working again. If the 'dead link' glitch hits again, please let me know.

Wow. I'm really impressed. That was extremely well done...the effects well done, the different body stances also good, the plot was good and realistic knowing the two protagonists....good work. Really, this is top notch.

Thanks very much NeoMExelor; hopefully it'll only improve as the series goes on! =)

Issue Two - Apprentice of the Sith - is well underway and should be uploaded by the weekend. I really do want to hear more feedback though, folks - any improvements you would like to see, or even storyline suggestions!

I'm midway through writing Issue Five now, but if anybody comes up with a good idea for a standalone issue's plot I can almost certainly fit it in and produce it =)

Well, there is one problem...

Barely any original characters. A story about Anakin and Obi-Wan. Personally, I believe that we have no business writing about someone else's characters without talking to the person who made em'. Which is why I write what I write. With my own characters. But, that's neither here nor there... Overall, it's good. Though I must ask... Why would a jedi killing bounty hunter wear only a helmet, skimpy clothes, high heels and a jetpack? It doesn't make a lick of sense.

Fair points, both of them.

The number of original characters is going to increase as the issues progress (in fact, Issue Four is completely centred around a group of original characters!), and those already introduced - namely Amelia and Chano - will have their roles increase to match those of the more familiar faces.

I respect, and in many ways admire, your own views on the use of established characters, but I've always found it easier to create my original characters when I have established characters to 'ground the story'. i.e, it's easier for me to establish Amelia and Chano's personalities when the writing shows them reacting to the already-familiar characters of Anakin and Obi-Wan. Chano's cowardice and Amelia's cool-headedness is immediately made clear. But that's just my approach, and I've read some of your writing and yours certainly works just as well.

In any case, Issue Four will be very original character-based, so perhaps when it comes out you will be able to say if you think there's been a drastic improvement; only time shall tell!

As for the bounty hunter's appearance; I'd like to give you some sort of clever, logical answer to that, but the simple truth is that it was the only model I could find that fit the bill of an original-looking bounty hunter woman, heh :P

Thanks for the feedback, General Jaxun.

It's no problem... However, there IS one more option for a better fem-mando. Based off of the same character, and you DO have to type a code to get the model itself... Ariel fem mando. As far as playability, you'll see only what you've got right now, but in the readme, codes are there for a character that's more... Bounty-hunter-ish. There are helmetless versions as well. I give and receive feedback. Remainder is not perfect. Nothing is. This is very well done, however...
