Yeah... I think I accidentally posted this thread on the wrong part... Didn't realize there was a distinction between JO and JA posts... sorry.... SOooo..... Uh.... I couldn't help but notice that there are very few SP maps for JA... There used to be a bijillion of 'em in JK & MotS. I was wondering if anyone knew of a tutorial on how to make Objectives in SP.

Also, I seem to have a problem with Radient. Some of the shaders, most notably caulk, have dissapeared. Seeing as how an SP map could take AGES to compile without caulk, not to mention bad FPS, this presents a problem. For that matter, I have a map I've worked on for months as a duel map that I'm almost ready to release, but I've decided to make a FFA and CTF version of it, taking the duel room and adding other rooms to it to make it bigger and better. The same problem exists here; without caulk, the duel mapp hasn''t shown any noticeable problems because it's tiny, but the FFA and CTF would be much harder on processors. Furthermore, another of the shaders that's left me is clip. Kinda hard to add models to the game without clip.

On that note, I have custom textures I've tried to add, but the console keeps saying that these have a lightmap but no lightmap phase... What's that supposed to mean? How do I fix it? ...When I'm in Radient, they appear, but they become that default gray-white grid thing in-game.

Also, I'm having trouble with music. I've put music in a target speaker, traced back like this: music/folder/mp3soundtrack. It won't play. I've even put the key to a brush, and still I'm having no luck.

Furthermore, how do you tell the game what force powers to start with? Weapons? Skin?

If you know anything about any of these problems, I'll be most greatful and will include you in the readme when these things get released (depending upon which part your advice helps with; the SP, Duel, or FFA/CTF maps). Click here to learn how to set objectives. About the problem with the caulk. Are you using JK2Radiant? this sometimes happens with this program. Get GTK radiant if you don't already have it. For music: You should press N to open the entity properties window, then select "worldspawn" at the top of that window, then enter a "music" key, and the path of the music mp3 as value (For instance music/mymap/mymusic.mp3). Remember to put an existing path for an existing mp3 file. If it doesn't exist create it in the pk3 file. To set weapons and force in the beginning of a map you have to make something called a "script." This is somewhat complicated. (search for this tool on JK3files.com) Then make a target_scriptrunner that uses this script. target it at your info_player_start. Scripting can get complicated, so if you have any questions look at this thread I hope this helped!

Thanks very, very much. I won't get a chance to use this until I get home this Saturday (I'm staying with family in Georgia), but hopefully I can finish these last few things and start submitting it by next week. I'll be sure to include you in the readme. Actually, though, I DO have GTKRadient, but it's still not working. I didn't know there was a different one. Now, this one DOES have JKO on it, but it also has JKA, which is the one I'm using. I'm afraid to reinstall the program until I can be sure my map's done, unless I simply have no choice. I'm just afraid of losing all this work. :( However, though the duel map works reasonably well without caulk - it's only a room, I could never get an effective FFA/CTF of any reasonable size without caulking. I guess if I can finish the duel map I'll try reinstalling, but not before. Do you know of anything else that could cause this problem? Thanks again. :bows:

If you reinstall GTK or JKA, then you won't lose your map; you only lose it if, during uninstallation, you say you want to delete the config and save files.

although if it is a problem with the config files that won't help. Maybe you should drag your maps to the desktop and then to a total uninstall/reinstall. [EDIT]I found this thread and they have the same problem. they just reinstalled and everything was fine.[/EDIT]

Actually, for me, reinstalling worked. I now have shaders again. Thanks all for the help. However, I've come to another problem. My worldspawn has turned into a light. I tried to turn it back, but i got the message, "Cannot rename back to worldspawn" or something like that. Does anyone know how to fix this? Or a new way to add music. I couldn't put music into the mutant worldspawn on my own. :( On that note, I don't recall anyone mentioning what that lightmap thing with the textures meant? Does anyone know? Thanks again. AND... what do you mean, it turned into a worldspawn? Worldspawn is not a tangible entity. You cannot make a worldspawn. to get to your worldspawn scroll to the bottom of the entity list in the entity window.

Oh sorry. I had pushed n, and accidentally gotten a light selected or something. I see what I did, and found my missing worldspawn. My bad. :lookaround: :cool: Later!

I have a new problem now. I typed the path in the music (from assets pk3) and it didn't work. So I tried putting the music in a folder in base like this: rebelship/musicname. I copied it just like that in the worldspawn and got this message: Unable to find rebelship/musicname as a dynamic track entry. I tried to put in gamedata/base/rebelship/musicname, and still no luck. I'm going nuts trying to get this right! :rolleyes: Any ideas, anyone?
