I have a few questions about mapping that I wasn't able to find the answer to in the master sticky. The first is: I just made a map that is basicly a box with terain, a tower, a tree, and sky texture. I saved it and compiled it. But when I tried to play it and error came up saying "Error Max_Patch_Planes". If someone could tell me the cause of this error, I would be most obliged. Second: All my maps seem way to bright, even in dungeon areas, there are no shodows either. So I was wondering, how do I aply these dark spots or shadows? And finnally third: When I put a texture on a brush, it covers all sides of the brush. However, I've was wondering if it was posible to put one texture on one side of the brush, and a differant texture on the other? If anyone could give me an answer to any of these questions, I would be most greatful. ~Darth Parrot™

Second: Use a diffrent compile type. My rule of thumb is just to pick the longest one. Third: Use crtl+shift+click.

Thank you bobaandy, I'll try a different compile type. But when I use crtl+shift+click on a brush, it selects the entire brush and not just one side. Also, I have another question to add: I made a small patch of lava, but when I tested it in game the texture was a black & white grid indicating that there was no texure on that brush. But when I jumped in, it still acted like lava and killed me. ~Darth Parrot™

Use the search button ;). And about the lava i think you used the wrong texture.

Ok, I'll search around the forums. Also. I tried a new compiler and it worked! My maps now have shadows. Thank you bobaandy. :D :bows: ~Darth Parrot™
