Well, to have it block light, you can use a lightblock shader I wrote a while back. As for the sound, use an areaportal with the door. You cannot, however, have dynamic lighting in JA. I've only used lightblock to prevent light leaking from under a door.

textures/lightblock/lightblock { qer_trans 0.5 surfaceparm nonsolid surfaceparm nomarks { map $whiteimage alphaFunc GT0 alphaGen const 0 } }

Save as lightblock.shader, add lightblock to shasderlist, and you're ready to go. Mind you, it'll appear as a missing texture in GTK, don't worry much about it. If you're desperate for a texture on it, create any texture with dimensions in the power of two, and save it as textures/lightblock/lightblock.jpg

no it won't let light through when the door opens, cause the light is pre determined in the compile, but in the unreal 3 engine, it has the ability to have moving lights and stuff.

As I stated, dynamic lighting is impossible. Oh, and Nkenobi, there's a buhjillion of engines that have dynamic lighting, not just U3.

As for the lightblock usage; use a nodrawn the size of your door, and texture only the sides where light comes from.

yes I know... just I am not sure which, but I know for sure the ut 3 does, do I used it... and I think I thought of a way to make the light come trhough the door! make a brush textured in comon/dark_dust and a replica of that brush, in system/nodraw. I don't know if this will work, I have never made door switches, but, in teh rich deisel tutorial, it says something about the door switches, being two brushes that switch places, when you hit the button, so mabey the same thing might work here, by switching two brushes. The light would be only dark_dust, but better than nothing... I realy have no idea of this will work, and if it does, what it will look like:uhm:

It''s going to look ugly, since the lightmap remains unaffected.
