I'm making a map with radiant 1.5, how would I make a door rotate down to become a access ramp?:

I believe rotating doors has to be achieved through ICARUS scripting?

I don't know how, and I don't know why, but this is totally Sheep's fault.

Yes there has. You will have to make it to a func_static that is operating like a door but its opening by going to lie down. If you do not how to script, this program will help you.

RotatorBeta.exe - FileFront.com

To use it, make a func_static in the map, which is the object to be rotated, remember to add a origin brush (for it to rotate around). Give it the key "script_targetname" with the val u set in the Rotator.

Then add a target scriptrunner, give it "count" & "-1" and give it "usescript" and as val the name u enter in the app..

That should be it

If you want an easier suggestion, you could just make a bridge that is popping out of the wall.

Forgot to give credits to Yzmo. He made the file, and he made the "tutorial". Thank you. If there are any difficulties, tell me.

Just one question, though.

Why did you bother making an app when you could have just saved the ICARUS script in it's root format and it would've worked exactly the same?

Me no get it. >_>

There's some fun in programming if you know what you are doing, Kouen. Anybody who has coded knows that. However, to program anything you need a goal.

Although that being said I still don't see why you would need a program for something that takes 2 or 4 commands in a script... I've made a couple of programs for scripting purposes in the past but the script sources they generated were humongous, repetitive things with only mathematically systematic changes between the individual commands, and so they would have been insane to write line by line by hand. Thus the programs.

But whatever floats a mapper's boat, I suppose. If it encourages somebody to use scripting in a map, it's already a victory.

Well, yeah, you have a fair point there.

I guess I'm just naturally suspicious of when people start throwing .exe files around when it's not particularly necessary. What with mods and gaming-related files becoming more and more common, and thus a more common way for people to try distributing trojan droppers and such.

That one's clean, though. 32 virus scanner databases can't all be wrong. <3 Open source software. Why buy one virus scanner when you can get 32 for free under the GPL license? ;)

I think, that this program is easier to manipulate, as the axis can be hard to know, and to just assemble the script in BehavED. This program helped me, and it will help people who r noobs at BehavED

Yeah. I get your point, and it's a valid one.

I'm just so old school that I think people ought to learn scripting by themselves. Once they learned they could script anything they wanted for their maps. Like it was said in some dusty old book: Give a man a fish and he will stink of fish for a day, but teach him to fish and he will reek of slime for the rest of his life.
