Alright, here it goes. I have a map that I want to add npc's to. For example, I want to have an NPC shadowtrooper standing outside a door as a guard. I want this NPC to load when the map loads. Right now, what I do is manually spawn them and when they die, I have to spawn another. It gets annoying spawning my NPC's on my map every time it loads.

So I know this is possible, I've seen it on clan servers before. I've been referred to a entity hacking tutorial which really confused me. What are my options for adding NPC's to my map permanently? I've tried Quark but I could not load any map successfully... I had errors like,

Error in hull number 0 : Access violation at address 00577063 in module 'QuArK.exe'. Read of address 096A4039. The hull number 26 contains 1 invalid face(s). Err degenerate The hull number 61 contains 1 invalid face(s). Err degenerate

So I do not know know what to do. Can anyone here help me?

If it really is your map, why don't you just open the map source in Radiant, add any NPCs, save, and compile? That way they would be there by default.

I'm going to take a wild guess that it's not his map.

Didn't you ask the same in the 'Errors' forum? I think, enough if you write it on one place, because harder to help you now...

I posted different questions with the same topic. This one deals with the error I have recieved by Quark when trying to open up a map to edit it.

The other deals with the error I recieve when I try to open the map with GTK.

I can edit maps with Quark right? Or is that only GTK? Here is exactly what I have done

1.) Took the PK3 I wanted to edit (Jedi'shomeJL_II)

2.) I took the BSP out and put it in the same folder as the PK3.

3.) From that BSP I got the entity list out.

4.) I copied it to a microsoft word file and saved it as Jedi'shomeJL_II

5.)I renamed it as a .ENT file.

6.) The ENT was placed in the same folder as the PK3 and BSP

7.) I also created a .MAP file because GTK won't open up pk3's or bsp's. They don't show up when I search for them.

8.)the MAP is alos in this folder.

And this IS NOT my map, I just want to edit a thing or two for a server for me and my friends. Credit will still be given to the original creator. I just want to open the map and make a few minor changes

Maybe try to ask the original maker... :P Maybe he will give a map file, or add this one NPC to the map for you :P
