Ok, I have tried many things to try and get an .md3 usable in Gmax that has already been UV mapped in Blender.

1. Exported as .md3 from Blender, then imported into Gmax. (to add tags) Works, but UV map is unusable and must be remade in Gmax's crappy UV system. Seriously, crappy. Blender kicks the proveribial pooch when it comes to UV mapping. >.>

2. Exported as .obj, again with UV support, and imported with the already built in .obj importer for Gmax. The UV map now worked, but again failed when I tried to export to .md3.

So.. I wanna know if I can cut straight to the tag making in Blender if at all possible. Can it be done?

Thanks

ok a bit of a side question here:

I've successfully exported a model as .md3 for Radiant use (not a weapon as above) but now radiant can't read the UV map or something.

I've put the model like so:

models/amadeus/plants/ and inside here is the .md3 and its uv map, untitled_Cube.jpg

I tried moving the jpg to all the directories there, so like in models/ and in models/amadeus/, but it still doesn't work. I just get a blue and black image in radiant and a lne that reads:

"Texture load failed: "untitled_Cube""

Any ideas here?

To address your second problem, it seems Radiant is looking for your texture in the base folder - there are no directories listed, just the file name.

Yup thats the problem. Perhaps I can find the solution in the .md3 itself then. *opens notepad*

darn. replaced 'untitled_cube' in the .md3 with 'models/amadeus/plants/untitled_cube' and it crashes radiant. ;p I'll see if I can reroute it or whatever in Gmax. Anyone else able to tell me how to do it btw?

edit: muahaha, fixed! Just had to edit the file using blender text editor. ;[

you can add tags in blender just clone the old tag and rename the copy
