Okay so thanks to Inyri Forges tutorial I'm going to start my first mod hopefully with my brothers help this will turn out good. First off I'm sorry if it takes awhile to update I'm just a beginner Second the main idea: The idea is to make a mod totally original for multiplayer Jedi Academy where you get a whole crap load of weapons I might be disabling force powers but lightsabers and such will still be there The weapon ideas I have so far are Desert eagle socom glock m16 Portal Gun Gravity Gun needler flamethrower bfg mini nuke launcher ak-47 plasma grenades and so on I'm also hoping to maybe add a single player story plot but that might not happen There will be more models, skins, and maps and it's going to have vehicles :dropsjaw: I know some vehicle ideas: ghost banshee clone gun ship f-16 m1 abrams and so on so check up for updates every now and then

Ever heard of the phrase "you have to crawl before you can run?" Before you get ahead of yourself try to make one gun and get it in game first. Post pics here so modellers can critique it and help you along. Secondly, some of your ideas require more than modelling. Coding will be required for most of what you want. To top it off if you are thinking about a SP story you will have to learn to map as well. It's a tall load but possible. Good luck.

Well there's also a drawback, in that JA's guns don't even behave remotely like Star Wars weapons, let alone modern weaponry.
While there's nothing stopping you from modelling and importing those guns, there's no way you can have them behave even slightly like they're supposed to without recoding the entirety of the game's ranged combat mechanics.
If you're into modern weaponry and want to work with the iD Tech 3 engine despite it's drawbacks, allow me to point out Soldier of Fortune 2, also created by Raven Software, also using the iD Tech 3 game engine.
However, SoF2 was designed around modern warfare, and as such is the perfect platform for mods revolving around such a theme.
JA just isn't a shooting game. It's just barely a game of any description, but it sure ain't a shooter. Trying to call it one is basically a bitchslap to the face of an entire genre. :uhm:
I don't know how, and I don't know why, but this is totally Sheep's fault.
Your right but alot of that is possible I mean you can have first person lightsaber fights I think it was chaos force unlimited or something like that anyway coding is possible my brother coded a M-16 for jkja and it works and sounds like a real one fire=obvious alt-fire=switches fire modes special redload button to so yeah oh and katana I'm going to start out with a gun and work my way up yes and mapping as my brother says is preety easy so yeah But thanks for your concern :)

Another thing to keep in mind: You can model all you like, but your guns will be severely limited by the fact that baseJKA has 3 animations for guns: Raise, fire, and lower.
No reloading, no equipping of silencers, no shell ejection, no recoil, no chaos, nothing that comes with realistic weapons.
In order to make a mod that is truly modern weapons, you'll need to do what Kouen said: Redo the coding for a good-sized chunk of the weapon system.
I do realize that but it's all trial and error I don't think I'll ask anyone for help at all so I better get started :naughty:

Good luck man...Hop you succeed...lol
I didn't make it!
Wow, if this were me, I'd quit within a month, but this isn't me...
Anyways, maybe you should start with learning C (If you don't already know it), and I mean really learning C inside and out, because you're going to need it for even getting a gun to reload.
Then comes figuring out the models and the animations, models aren't too hard, but animations will be quite difficult with JKA.
If you get this far, congrats, the JKA community will love you, as long as the model looks good!
PS: I'm just wondering, since you seem to be so confident, it seems you either have absolutely no knowledge of programming languages, or know quite a bit about the C language. Do you know how to use the C language?

The core language of C isn't that hard to learn. Anyone could do it in a couple of days if they just want to. The only extensive thing about C is its standard library, but that isn't used much in the SDK (if at all).
I do know C to tell you the truth I tried C out to make a java game it failed So I tried C++ IT WORKED I made a simple card game but at least I have some understanding of C
