I was wondering about Alpha channels, searching through Google and the sticky, I have completed MAKING my alpha channel for the weapon texture I'm working on, but I am unsure as to how I am to apply a shader to that alpha channel.
I know the shader I would like to try, but I was hoping someone could explain to me the proccess of applying a shader to the alpha channel section of a texture alone. ;)
(What I AM trying to do is make the blade of a weapon glow, so I made the alpha channel layer of just the section I would like to glow.)

when dealing with glows, and areas which glow, an alpha shader is not required. Simply make all parts of the skin glow images which you do not want to glow black, and bits you do want to glow, whatever color they need to be.
