I want to try my hand at character modelling, but i need somewhere to start. If anyone would share any guides on finding the skeleton, importing the skeleton, weighing it, exporting the model, making the game recognize the model... You know. That old chestnut.
Oh, and i have 3ds max 2010.

I already tried that. Only one tutorial there, and i don't get anything it talks about.
I googled character modeling yesterday and got tons of results, even videos. Your problem is that you're trying to look for something JA specific which does not exist. You'll have to learn low poly character modeling and a lil bit of basic anatomy while your at it. Then use the tutorial by tim appleby that comes with the JA mod tools. Oh yeah, you should also learn the basics of the program, you're trying to learn how to run without knowing how to walk.
I've already made several models in fact. I know how to make models, make a uv map, assign verts to bones and so on.
Well look in program files/lucas arts/star wars jedi knight jedi academy/gamedata/tools/ and there should be a character export guide. You should have this if you have any of the tools needed to create things for JA like modview and all that.

you find several tutorials on rigging there, aswell as some exporters/importers you'll gonna need.
I knew someone who used max would have that link, I need to rebookmark, maybe even try to get that bum to come back on msn...
^^Already tried that but i don't get anything about the caps and stuff.

The site that Last Wish posted has the things you need, you just have to look at all of them. Some one can correct me if I'm wrong, but the last supported version of 3ds Max that can rig games for JKA is 8, maybe 9 if you push it.
