Your going to need a very good program like photoshop. But Im going to assume your not going to spend over $300 for a programt to skin, so Im going to suggest using GIMP. GIMP - The GNU Image Manipulation Program Look harder for a tut

there are a lot of different tutorials on skinning and to me most written tutorials are confusing so you might like a video so download and watch this: Bael's Skinning Tutorial Video, Jedi Knight 3 Downloads, Jedi Knight 3 Others

I found another video tutorial some time ago, may help you:
lol. A REBORN of course. I'm surrprised he didn't desaturate it. Also would have been REALLY easy to knock out the black background in that logo with a blending mode.
He's asking for a simple tutorial, so I gave him one ;).

So that's why we always get submissions with the _humanoid folder... >_>
I didn't see him copy the humanoid folder  If he had, It would of taken alot longer for pakscape to save the file  For skinning, i started with Photoshop Elements 3.0 (you could try GIMP as its free and quite powerful) which is good enough if your doing the odd skin or two. When you get more experienced you will be looking for bigger and better things which is when you will find the tools and options in Photoshop CS 1,2,3 invaluable.
