Ok um, i've been looking on the internet for the past two days and havent turned up with any info on this: I wanna edit a jk3 map, but its a .bsp(ffa3.bsp) for my clan, but I don't know how to convert the bsp to .map because radiant isn't letting me open bsp files, and all the converters i tried aren't working, also, for some reason my q3map2 starts up then dissappears, I don't know if vista is a problem for it, but if anybody knows how to convert .bsp to .map for jk3 it would be much appreciated
It's REALLY complicated to explain, for my part...but you have to understand - what you get from the decompile will likely not be very editable. It's not gonna look pretty at all. :[
But to do it, make a shortcut on your desktop that points to your q3map2.exe, then go into the icon properties. For the target, give it this:
[path to q3map2.exe] -game JA -convert -format map [name of bsp file].bsp
Make sure you have the .map file in the same folder as q3map2, then run your shortcut. The process only takes a few seconds. Open q3map2's folder. You'll see [bspname]_converted.map waiting for you.
I think reverse engineering maps is also against the license agreement, too. I'm not sure about that.
In any case, good luck with whatever you're gonna do!
Decompiling, or reverse engineering (thanks Nab), is a violation of the EULA, I'm sure. Kouen has told me this one too many times.
Also, the result you will get will not be pretty. You'll have random brushes everywhere their not supposed to be.
I would suggest against decompiling.
Good answer, Johnpp. That set me straight on it. :)

You know the EXACT same question was asked only a few days ago, and I think Kouen posted a link to where raven had released the source .map file for that map. Try searching once in a while.
If your looking to edit the map in ways the people can still connect to it without downloading a specialized map, what your trying to do is not gonna work. There are tools out there that allow you to Edit the entities directly (and sometimes even brushes).
Now, if u want ffa3 just as a basis, and u wanna make a whole new map, then go for it
