What you'll need: - PakScape. - Wordpad. - Your music file.

For Singleplayer: Go into assets1.pk3 and find a folder called ui. Copy the file main.menu out to your desktop.

Open the main.menu file in Wordpad, and find (CTRL+F) the following:

onOpen { setfocus newgamebutton }

Change it to say:

onOpen { setfocus newgamebutton exec "music music/mymp3.mp3" }

Save the file, put it in a folder named ui, then put that entire folder into a pk3. Make sure the new pk3 comes after assets alphabetically.

For Multiplayer: The same process as above, except this time you need to use the main.menu file from the jamp subfolder (i.e. C:\Program Files\LucasArts\Star Wars Jedi Knight Jedi Academy\gamedata\base\assets1.zip\ui\jamp\main.menu if you open it in Windows Explorer. If you use PakScape (which is recommended), it's just ui\jamp. )

Open it up in Wordpad.

Find:

onOpen { exec "music music/t2_dpred/ImpBaseB_Action" ; }

Change to:

onOpen { exec "music music/mymp3.mp3" ; }

Do the same pk3'ing process as above, only this time, make sure the folder path within the pk3 is correct (ui\jamp).

Then all you gotta do is pk3 your mp3. Naturally, you can use any filename for the mp3, as long as the filepath is less than 64 characters. Just drop the pk3s for your altered menu file and your music in base, and the music will play on the menu of your choice.

(I say to use Wordpad rather than Notepad, since Notepad removes all formatting from a document, making it one big mess of letters.)

EDIT: And don't forget the tabspace before the lines in the .menu file. I removed those once and it bugged out on me. Yeah, I know there's no tabspaces up there, you can blame vBulletin for that. :p

Check in the console for any errors.

Maybe the mp3 file isn't in the right format? Usually it has to be 128kbps, 44.1 KHz and Mono.

It can be in whatever mp3 format mono,stereo,or VBR. I have VBR in base right now cause VBR is what the JO/Ja use.

I believe every time an MP3 that's not 44100Hz, stereo, and 129kbps is used, Jedi Academy will refuse to accept it. I know this from experience.

I'll get DataLord to edit it and add it later.
