Hello, this is my question. Ive made some mods por JA, but this time i wanna go one step further. I need to change the program title, my definition of title is the Jedi Academy Multiplayer legend that appears, when you play windowed up in the windows, i want know if there any tool to change that, or i need to decompile the exe? Id Soft, release the open source of their Q3 engine, that why i think that its not ilegal to make that change right now.

I hope you can help me

I don't know anything about coding but I would guess you'd have to decompile the exe and alter the strings.

You'd think so, but that's not actually the case.

The engine itself is considered open-source, but all software built upon it is proprietary, meaning Quake 3 Arena, Elite Force, Soldier of Fortune 2, Jedi Outcast, Jedi Academy, etc.... They're all illegal to decompile.

Besides, even if you could decompile them, you'd be left with a mess you couldn't use.

It's also impossible to change the title depending on mod via such a method, since all mods use the same .exe file, so any changes to the jamp.exe for one mod may actually make the game incompatible with other mods, or even with the base game DLLs.

This is just a wild theory, but you may be able to change the window title by having your mod launch through a .bat shortcut with specified parameters. I'll look into it, if I find anything, I'll let ya know.

I don't know how, and I don't know why, but this is totally Sheep's fault.

Like I said in another thread, there are ways to bypass that problem with minor annoyance. It's far from impossible to do by the way.

En Taru Adun Praetor Kouen. As far as your theory goes, it only changes the name of the .bat window, not the actual JA/JO console.

To Zakul-- Heres how to make a .bat

1. Open up notepad. 2. Type in this-> jamp.exe +set fs_game [Your mod's folder name in gamedata here] 3. Save as 'Play [Your mod name here].bat' in gamedata.

With that code on a .bat, the only thing that i can do its to run my mod directly just double clicking it, but the title stills being Jedi Academy MP.

Thanks anyway, all the help is usefull
