Is it possible to have a JA shader load mutliple images in an order? I remember hearing somewhere that JA could use TGA's in a specific order to make up small animations, im trying to animate some moniter screens in game to have various animations

The ingametier1,2 and 3 menus have animations made up of jpegs I think, maybe look in the UI shader for planets/

Maybe it gives you a clue, but roqs are probably the easier one to do...

I'll take a look tomorrow...

Depending on what you are going for, an ROQ may be better than an animated shader (for performance reasons). That is ONLY if you have a large number of frames. So it really depends.

However, here is an example of an animated shader that changes frame every 1 second. (though, you can tell it to only change when used if its on an entity, but that isn't relevant here.

textures/epiii_boc/level1 { qer_editorimage textures/epiii_boc/level1 q3map_nolightmap qer_trans 1.0 surfaceparm nonsolid surfaceparm trans surfaceparm nonopaque cull twosided { animMap 1 textures/epiii_boc/level3 textures/epiii_boc/level2 textures/epiii_boc/level1 blendFunc GL_SRC_ALPHA GL_ONE_MINUS_SRC_ALPHA } { animMap 1 textures/epiii_boc/level3_glow textures/epiii_boc/level2_glow textures/epiii_boc/level1_glow blendFunc GL_ONE GL_ONE glow } }

In case you decide to go the ROQ route:

textures/amace_news/TarisHorizons { surfaceparm nomarks surfaceparm nonopaque surfaceparm nonsolid surfaceparm trans q3map_nolightmap cull twosided qer_editorimage textures/amace_news/JKGTV { videomap TarisHorizons.roq blendFunc add rgbGen identity } }

most my moniters are tv static, but i wish to animate it slightly with random images flashing in, think most of the moniters in the game FEAR, cept minus Alma Wade In this map's "control room" there is 12 seperate moniters, 13 if you count the desk one, the desk one has an easter egg already displayed, the others currently have non moving tv static, tho RoQ would be fine for me, as long as their able to repeat infinite and wont need sound

Ok so ive decided to use RoQ, but heres my question, where I can make menu intro videos, how does one go about using an RoQ in game, in a map, where you dont need a player trigger to activate?

^I'm pretty sure Inyri either has a tut in the faq or on her site, if not then maybe PM her if she doesn't see your posts first cause I know she knows how to make ROQ files.

I posted a tutorial on how to make them, but I have no idea if you can actually use them outside the menus in actual game content.

I'm pretty sure you can. I remember SithJCull's Jurassic Park map had the room where they play that cartoon in the movie, about how they made the dino's. It was definitely not an animmapped shader either, much too long.

EDIT: This part
