Hello

I've looked everywhere for a skybox tutorial for JK3 that ACTUALLY WORKS. I was unsucessful. Can any of you expert mappers give me a tip or two?

ps. I need it to be a lightmap too. You know, the light comes from the sky?

Lightmap means a texture gets lighting during the compile. There aren't often shadows cast upon the sky, as there is no surface in the sky, so having a lightmap stage for a skyshader is an absurd idea.

If you just want to have general skylight (ambient) or sun light, those are totally different things... Hmm... Instead of q3map_sun mentioned in Wedge's tutorial, use q3map_sunExt.

Check RichDiesals tutorials in the Master Sticky, they have almost eveything. I learned how to make custom skyboxes from that, and he gives you a template shader for the lightmapped skybox. You just have to edit the coordinates of the light center.
