For some reason (and it must be engine side since it isn't trapped in the Com_Printf() function) ever few seconds the string:
"name" is:"MyPlayer" default:"Padawan"
Appears in my console. It appears exactle as if I had toggled the console open and type \name and pressed enter. Sometimes these rather bizarre issues with the game are quite frustrating because I have done anything to the "name" playername or whatever cvars store that information, nor have I altered anything that would effect a constant attempted execution of the "name" command, yet there it is, constantly printing out my player name ever 2-5 seconds. Any ideas?
Try turning off XFire in-game settings.
Thats the xfire kill tracker i think, its a pain in the ass. You can turn it off in options.
That's one possibility, yes.
It's not the only thing on the planet that can cause this error, though. It's just the most probable.
I don't know how, and I don't know why, but this is totally Sheep's fault.
I've only ever got this with x-fire so as suggested play around with its settings.
It is definitely Xfire, or at least NOT a JA game engine problem. The usual procedure is to check "Disable Kill/Death Tracking" from your Xfire Tools menu, then restart.
