Ok. Here's my problem. Noticing the lack of any dalek models for Jka, I went searching and found a very nice one by TiM on the Elite force2 site at filefront. (Dalek (2005 Version), Elite Force 2 Downloads, Elite Force 2 Celebrities) It is a md3 file and so I thought that if i fiddled around with the .pk3 i could get it to run in jka.
Unfortunately, I cannot seem to get it to work. Could someone help me here?
I think you should to rename a few files, and foldere to JKA...for example sound/voice/dalek2005/misc to sound/chars/dalek2005/misc...and models/players2/dalek2005 to models/players/dalek2005..and more...and I think after you renamed the all of this, it will working....good luck:D
Yes. I renamed players2 to players, and voices to chars, AND i went into the .skin files and renamed all of their file directories, but the game says something like : "cannot load model dalek2005"
Annoying...
You should probably ask permission to be honest, even it's for personal use it's still the good thing to do, TiM may even be interested to see your progress and may even help you convert it successfully.
If you don't ask for permission then I'm unsure if this is classified as porting.
Plagiarism at any rate.
But yeah, you'll likely get help too if you have the author's consent.
I should point out, though, that Elite Force uses a smaller scale ratio for it's models than Jedi Academy does. Much smaller. So you'll need to be able to edit and re-export the model for usage in JA.
It also doesn't load things the same way, hence why you can't just rename stuff and expect it to work.
It's true that both games are based on iD Tech 3, but the engine's aren't identical as both were modified during development.
I don't know how, and I don't know why, but this is totally Sheep's fault.
If you're going to put a Dalek in game, you'd be better off having it as a vehicle rather than a playermodel.
Aye thats true, like the R2D2 vehicle on PCGameMods and the howler vehicle.
It isn't working because it's an MD3, it needs to be GLM, anyway, I could do it for you.
Oh, wait, now I've had a look, the model has a few errors and the only way I could make it work is without the gun, but then again if a dalek gun model was made it would work.
OaO should know, hes got one as his Avi XD I think that it would cause HUGE animation problems as a player since its probly not hooked up to a JKA skeleton and the animations wouldnt work for it.
I also have one in my friend's shed. Well, not a finished one, yet.
