If you are going to suppose i'm new to mapping, your incorrect...

But there are a few maps I have that need some more...

Like Vjun Stupid, wich I want to add another 2 sections.

But they are .BSP...

How can I edit them or make them .MAP?

I have the ability to use the command prompt and others...

It might not be wise to try to release decompiled, modified maps under your name.

It's like you bought a novel, thought it ended too soon, and so you wrote a couple of chapters to make a new ending, and tried to get it published. Well, obviously nobody could or would publish such an edited book. You might be able to get "your" level submitted to some site, but that doesn't make it any more right.

I suggest you make a totally new map out of those parts you wanted to add to the original, and release the new map as such, explaining in the readme they are meant to expand the Vjun level.

these go into the intro forum

But welcome have fun please read the FAQ and follow the rules

I meant after i add stuff, I know everything about pk3s, bsp, ect...

I have a ton of maps, just I don't release them online... Thanks btw.

h You are probaly right though, I maybe won't, but alot of people have asked me for some things like that... EG: Friend asks: "I want that vjun whatever level to have an elevator that goes from the very bottom to the top! Can you do that?"

And thank you SO MUCH for the link Szico VII!

... The link brings you to text... I made that into a bat file... does it work if you have 3 different drives, while gtkradiant and JA are installed in different drives?

I get an error when I try it, I changed the paths to the paths they really are, and when I run it, it thinks its in C:/documents and settings/myusername/files\gamedata\base\maps\map.bsp

this is what your site said...

"C:\Program Files\GTKRadiant-1.4\q3map2.exe" -game ja -convert -format map -fs_basepath "C:/Program Files/LucasArts/Star Wars Jedi Knight Jedi Academy/gamedata" %1 pause

I even tried changing the %1 to " and it still did not work

I checked to make sure, q3map2 does not have it's own folder..

GRR YOU CAN'T EVEN TRY TO DO IT THROUGH THE COMMAND PROMPT! How do you switch drives in command prompt?

well, that change in slash direction will have screwed it up. 'myusername/files\gamedata'

you dont edit anything apart from the file paths. leave the %1 as it is. and yes, just put in the right filepaths and it will work :)

Even if you keep them for personal use or just do them for a friend, it's still against the law to edit those maps. If you really wanted to edit them, you'd have to ask for Raven Software's permission. They would send the .map file if they agreed with what you wanted to do. But they probably won't.

And if you do decompile and edit the map, you'll be messing up the textures since q3map2 doesn't store the information on how they line up. So if you want to spend countless hours realigning the textures just so you can add an elevator which will save you no more than ten minutes every time you play through SP mode, and break the law while you're at it, then go right on ahead.

(I'm just pointing out, rather sarcastically, that it's pretty pointless...)

"D:\Program Files\GTKRadiant-1.4\q3map2\q3map2.exe" -game ja -convert -format map -fs_basepath "E:/Program Files/gamedata %1

pause

What happens when I drag & drop:

my darn stupid computer that messes up, darn windows!Blahblahblahblahblah q3map2 blah blah a well oiled toaster oven (I will not ask) Loading... C:/program files/me/files\gamedata\base\maps\mymap.bsp ********ERROR******************* Could not load "C:/program files/me/files\gamedata\base\maps\mymap.bsp"

Obvious that there is some mess up... I did everything said... I do very much appreciate your guy's help, and attempts to get this fixed, just so you know :) (The reason this post is so huge... Szico VII said "edit is your friend" in a previous post... dont want to get in trouble)
I suggest you make a totally new map out of those parts you wanted to add to the original, and release the new map as such, explaining in the readme they are meant to expand the Vjun level.

Thats exactly what I meant, sorry :)

Person99Ermm... Ravens permission? I bought the game... I can't edit the maps for personal use?
Buying a copy of the game doesn't give you the rights to decompile and edit it. The only official Raven maps you're allowed to edit are the ones which came with GTK Radiant. All the maps are the copyrighted property of Raven Software, I'm actually surprised they gave us some in .map format.
If I were to have to ask... Where would I?

You'd have to contact Raven via email or by sending a PM to one of Raven's mappers on their forums. Just Google for "Raven Software", it should come up. (I forgot the URL...)
