I am making a gun mod, and i am recoloring the effects. But I ran into a problem with the disruptor, I managed to recolor effect but the actual beam :S. I have editted every efx file in the disruptor folder and even looked in the weapons.dat file but i still dont know what effect the beam is....anyone know what efx file its in? i might have missed a rgb line in one of the files... EDIT: oh yeah and also, in some of the rgb lines, there are 6 numbers, i didnt know what the extra 3 were, so i assumed it was for a variation in color so i editted it like : r g b r g b because i didnt know what they were...is that right?
The disruptor beam is coded and concists of two segments. The first segment is gfx/misc/whiteline2 that is made yellow by the game code. This is to make the beam fade to orange and you can't change this. The second segment however is the shader called gfx/effects/redline. This is the actual laser beam. If you change the color for this in any image program like Photoshop or GIMP, then the disruptor fx change color, apart from that yellow hue at the end. AND for those rgb lines. If you open up the effect in EffectsEd there are always two values for everything, a min and max value. The extra rgb lines are an alternative color for the segment as you says.
