Can someone give me a tutorial on EffectsEd? I'm trying to change the lightning effect in JA.

I don't think you use effectsED to change the lighting in your JA maps, but if you're looking for smoother lights in your maps, I'd suggest making a shader light. Richard diesal's mapping tutorial in the master sticky Has some good tutorials on how to make shader lights.

He said lightning, not lighting, as in the force power that the Emperor favored. As far as the tutorials, if its not in the master sticky then I have no clue.

Personally I wouldn't bother using EffectsEd, if you can find the efx file you need, just open it up in notepad. It's fairly self-explanitory.

Oh! And then just change it to the right file paths?

Yes.

Effects ED is for creating the effects, in GUI, then watching them without having to start up JKA for one effect. It does not add anymore or less features.

Oh alright, thanks a lot! I'll try it now.

Couple things, is lightning a 3D effect? Or is it just 2D but shows the same picture at every angle? Or what?

Lightning is a 3d effect, but it uses a 2D texture.

I'm sure some of the nice people here can help you out some more than I can.
