Hey, I'm hoping someone here can help me out here :)
I've just discovered the art of creating and editing .efx files and assigning them to different guns. My first question is: can someone please explain the "function names" in the weapons.dat file? (borgfunc, scavengerfunc, altscavengerfunc, etc, etc). How will changing these affect gameplay? And my second question is this... I'd like to make a flamethrower or something by combining the efx files to a gun. How would I make it so that... 1. The efx does damage to other players? 2. The projectile (flame or other effect) stays at the barrel of the gun until the mouse is released, and then it dissapears.
I hope I was clear enough in explaining my questions. Thanks for any help :D

Yout first question cant be done without coding, and im pretty sure your second cant be done either. I assume the functions do little to nothing at all.
There was a flamethrower mod on jk3 files but it was for force not guns.I know a coder who maybe could help
Ok, thanks for the feedback, at least I know what it would take. Maybe I'll look into coding. In the future. Way in the future. Yea.
You could always improvise with the gun, like just give it a very fast rate of fire so that it LOOKS like the fire stays ate the barrel of the model.
But then it would still go further then a flamethrower gun would wouldnt it?
You can alter the range in the weapons.dat file.
OK, first of all, you guys are geniuses. BUT... I am having some problems with the weapons.dat file. For some reason, it just does not want to change anything. I make a pk3, put the file in the ext_data folder and I changed the firetime to 5 and the range to 50 (just to experiment) and.... nothing happens. I've tried doing similar thing in the past and it never worked either. Am I doing something wrong?
Thanks :)
weapons.dat only changes things for Singleplayer. If you want it done to Multiplayer, you need a coder. If you want to work on a couple mods with me i'd be happy to help with this. (I'm a coder and i also mod all aspects.) Also, to get the flame effect to work, you could get the jetpack effect, and slow down the acceleration or something. (It does work) If you're trying it for Singleplayer, then i don't know what's wrong...i'll have a go at it later today when i'm on my actual comp.
