in am making a map and i want to make a elevator take me down to the next level but even after reading the tutorials on the sticky i still cant get it to work. i have tried to use func_plat

You need to give more information than just saying that it won't work, or we can't help you. Post your script and tell us how you set up your entities.

There are no scripts involved.

Use a func_door. I don't care what ID software says....func_plat makes bad elevators.

Take your existing elevator, and set the angle to up or down (depending on where you want it to go). Make a very thin brush as big as you want the distance it will travel, texture it with "textures/system/trigger" and make it part of the entity. Give the entity a key/value pair of: "lip" "0". This makes you able to define EXACTLY how far you want the elevator to travel.

Then make a trigger_multiple that sets it off. Make sure you give it a wait value, then target it at the func_door. Voila, an elevator. It's very easy to repeat the process, and it will have very accurate movement.
