Ben Mathis' tutorials.

You can make a few models following tutorials, but don't hang on to them for dear life. Find out what works best for you and practice. It's gonna take a few tries but if you hang in there you'll make it. So start working, post WIP images and I'll drop by and help out.

Allurian, what program are you using? It doesn't really matter. I'm a beggining modeller like you, and I don't bother with JA yet since I have minimal experience and I find after awhile I have fun making a fat person out of boxes. Seriously the first thing you do is find a tut site- then work through the beginers to intermediate and so on. You would be supprised how proud I was when I modelled a pencil :)

EDIT: If you really wanted him that desporatly cut of a bit of the Kameonian jedi dudes head, it will make him look sorta like Plageus...I think.

3DTotal's 3ds Max tutorials. I think you'll find them useful.

EDIT: If you want, I can give you my base model when you get down to modeling Plagueis. You'd have to do the clothing, head and proportion editing yourself, but you'd have a model already lined up to the skeleton, making the process a little easier.
