It's me again and again I have a question altough it's a very simple and short one this time. I'm currently working on a mod to replace the Single Player music and I'm wondering what these files are which names end on _etr. For example, yavin2_etr00.mp3 and yavin2_etr01.mp3. It seems there are always two of them but I don't know when they are played so if someone knows, please tell me.

Look in ext_data folder and look for a file called dms.dat. That holds all the information about the length of the music tracks including those. Here's what is in the dms.dat file about the files with the etr extension:

yavtemp2_explore { entry { marker0 88.28 marker1 48.10 marker2 117.47 marker3 0 } exit { nextfile yavtemp2_etr00 time0 46.23 time1 53.44 time2 62.08 time3 69.09 time4 77.08 time5 87.03 time6 96.49 } exit { nextfile yavtemp2_etr01 time0 15.24 time1 31.79 time2 42.78 time3 114.18 time4 134.25 time5 144.89 time6 160.03 time7 168.03 } }

Sorry. Okay, here's what it says about those files at the bottom of dms.dat:

Example:

levelmusic

yavin2 { explore yavtemp2_explore action yavtemp2_action }

what he wants to know is what etr means. I would guess 'entrance', like say on entering the academy area or something.

Actually I didn't want to know what etr means, but if it's played when entering a specific area this is what I wanted to know.

This are only the explore and action themes but not the etr files. But when I look at what you posted above I think it is played when the explore theme ends. So is it played when the explore theme ends and loops again, or when entering combat, or maybe both?

I believe something - atr or etr - is played when combat ends and the explore music starts. I've made a music replacement mod (150 meg!), too, and what I did was replace the etr and and atr files by a silence, to prevent interference. But if you want, you can just keep them the way they are; the explore and action musics are way more important.

Have a look at this: Dynamic music in levels (it's just speculation, mind you, but I guess it's mostly accurate).

It seems every track is accompanied by a couple exit tracks that are played when the track has to be ended while in the middle of it. The exit tracks for the ..._explore track are called ..._etrXX, while those for the ..._action tracks are called ..._atrXX.
