I am extremely angry. *muffles indecipherable war cry* Now that that's over and done with, I would like to say that I think the Internet has finally turned its will against me! (Okay.....not really.) Alright: first, I download Dragon 0.8. Then I go to the User's Guide and learn lots of useful information about the program. I have now successfully completed three nice little animations (ive made the players hold their gun up to the sides of their face, like they SHOULD). So, then, I encountered a few little bugs/slight predicaments that cause extreme inconvenience on my part. I mutter to myself, already slightly irritated, "That's fine. I'll just register on the Dragon forums and ask how to resolve this issue." Of course, nothing ever goes right for me, and, lo and behold, the activation email does not even show up in my Inbox after even a second attempt using a seperate username and double-checking of all register information. I am now very, very ^%$#@ at...well, anything in particular. So then I rather growl to myself, "All right...I am angry. Oh, well--perhaps there is a seperate version available elsewhere on the Internet." So I Google it. I cannot find anything remotely resembling a legitimate download. PCGameMods has long since died or been murdered by some lurking Internet virus-stalker villain-thing, and it is, apparently, the only place to get a different/newer version. Not only this, but the Dragon User's guide speaks of several new features that are supposedly featured in one such seperate version, but I cannot even FIND any download that is, in fact, downloadable at all. Finally, as a last resort, I visit my MSN Email Inbox page again. I am now foaming at the mouth, a rabid, angry...person, my lip curled up in an expression of Unrighteous Fury. Then I email Wudan at the email he provided on the User's Guide. Minutes later, I check my email again to see if the two activations that should've arrived at my digital doorstep long ago have presented themselves as of yet, and, again lo and behold, I have a Delivery Status Notification email that then tells me that my email to "good 'ole" Wudan did not even reach its intended target. And then I came here, said both aloud and online, "I am extremely angry," uttered an incomprehensible war cry that I had to muffle with the back of my hand to prevent neighborhood-wide panic, and began to weave an elegant tale of what has happened up to this point. So I come to you--if you exist--all faithful Dragon Animation Tool users. Does anyone else have a newer version of Dragon than the 0.8 release? And do NOT try to direct me to non-existent PCGameMods!! P.S. Yes, I do get in the habit of reeling off extremely long forum posts/emails of rage when I get especially angry. Thank you to the few of you who bothered to read this far! P.S.S. I think I am beginning to sound just a bit like Averus...(yay!)

There's a newer version than 0.8.5 (0.8.9)?

I still need to make some anims for my SP level (and fix old ones), but I haven't touched Dragon for months. I scanned quickly through the forum but didn't see any new releases beyond 0.8.9. Well, maybe you have better eyes than I have...

And yeah, no need to write your whole life story just to ask about Dragon versions...

I needed to take it out on all of you good people. :P lassev--think you could give me a link to that 0.8.9? Supposedly (that is, according to that User's Guide), there should be a visible floor tile in Dragon so that you can...well, see where the floor would be. That's all I'm going off at this moment in time--there is no tile in my version.

You should be able to use /floor in the console. That will bring up the floor.

I don't think there's any other difference between 0.8.5 and 0.8.9 than the internationalizing. Though I could be wrong. But the link to that version is in the thread 1ShotDoctor linked to, in a post a little later.

I am sorry that my animation tool, originally intended to bring a universal joy to the universe, has failed you.

The problem with the forums may be that you're entering information in fields that should be left blank. This was done as an anti-spambot measure, and from what I can tell has been mostly successful thusfar. Between blocking IPs and banning some email hosts, I have somewhat limited how badly I get hit by spambots.

I apologize for that. Which users are you so I can delete them and we can start again?

Also, what bugs are you experiencing? Each Dragon has a unique version number and each seems to have it's own quirks. I can only fix the latest version, for reasons that should be fairly understandable. There's no floor in the latest version, which is a big oversight on my part. I kept meaning to add one back in and wasn't thinking straight. The floor - how the hell else is one supposed to know where to put the feet? The latest version also supports MD3s so if someone was inclined they could build an MD3 model of a floor (or whatever else they want) and Dragon could render it. Having a basic 'built in' floor model wouldn't hurt though.

Why so many damn differences? Well I guess it's partially because I wasn't following a stringent design when building Dragon. It's partially influenced by other interfaces, but I kept changing my mind as a learned to do things differently. There's parts I like, parts I hate, but all in all, I'd just like to learn how to animate better and what tools animators use, so I can do the same things - for free.

Anyway, let me know what's up and we'll sort through this stuff together. My new job keeps me busy as hell, so I only get so much time to work on Dragon. The user base is very limited, but I hope the few of you can help me make it better, a little at a time.

the only way your gonna get a way to animate better is to build an interface with interactive IK chains set up, which i dont know if you can do. raven said they used XSI for all the games animations and theres a free version on thier website, you might want to take a look at that and import some of the source files.
