I cant seem to find any to use in radiant no matter what I do... I can find some sky and water ones... but seriously, after hours of looking no fire.. can anyone tell me where they are?
Or would I have to make one?
Fire is generally done with effects, not shaders.
If you mean lava, one of the lava shaders suppled with the game is 'textures/sandcrawler/ore'.
I forget the name of the Taspir lava shader, but it's under the Taspir texture list - don't use the one that looks like lava, it's just a texture, not the shader; the one you want will have the little red and black 'shader not found' image representing it, and will have a very similar name to the lava texture.
You can use either the Taspir or Sandcrawler lava shader, though - they'll both do the trick sufficiently well.
I don't know how, and I don't know why, but this is totally Sheep's fault.
I was trying to put a torch up. So your saying I would do that with the fx runner? I havn't found much about anything with making a torch or fire effects, and when I did they told me to go to files I don't have any whatnot :/
Before I say any more, I'd just like to ask a quick question - are you using GtkRadiant 1.5.0?
I don't know how, and I don't know why, but this is totally Sheep's fault.
No, 1.4.0
Rich Diesal's tutorial page for fx_runner covers it, I guess. Don't know if it works in jk3, though. But you could give it a try - doesn't seem to be overly complicated.
I didn't think that was for torches too, just thought it was if you wanted a flame jet or something :P I'll try that though thanks
You're right, the flame jet is probably not what you want. But I guess one of these will do the job: env/fire, env/fire_wall, env/small_fire. Not sure though, since I'm too lazy to try them out myself. Just have a look in assets1.pk3\effects\env\ (or go download the list published recently on jk3files) and go trial and error.
I did, I went and tried right after that post I made and used fire and it worked great, thank you all for the help :)
