Ok, I was considering playing around with the High Speed Melee mod on SP, since that Gwethenea looks hawt in that Matrix Jacket. But to the point, I've been wondering if there was a way if you could tweak all the NPC's in SP to use melee. Even if not all, just the ones who use sabers that would be ok.

So if someone could tell me how I'd be happy to do it myself, but if someone has the time they could do it if they want to.

1) Get NPC Tool.

2) Copy the ext_data/npcs folder out of your assets.

3) Change every standard NPC (i.e. every one that only has the abilites you have, which rules out Tavion, Alora, Boba Fett, Rosh and those two Reborns you fight with him) to have their only weapon set as wp_melee.

Don't touch any NPCs that use special abilities in combat.

Also, you may or may not want to change/remove force powers, or at least adjust the AI class so that most enemies (most notably the force-users) will use the fists as primary weapons and powers as backup.

4) Make a folder somewhere on your hard drive (My Documents, for example) called ext_data, and in the same folder, create a zip file named whatever you want, just make sure it doesn't have the same name as something else in your base folder and that it's name begins with any letter after 'b'.

Alternately, skip creating the zip, and go straight to step 5.

5) Drop your copy of the npcs folder into your temporary ext_data folder. Rename the folder if necessary so that it's name is simply npcs.

6) Drop your ext_data folder into the .zip file.

Alternately, if you chose to skip creating the .zip file and went straight to step 5, use PakScape (the advised method, since you probably have file extensions for known filetypes hidden) to use the temporary ext_data folder to create a pk3.

7) Ensure that your pk3 has a name beginning with any letter from B-Z (preferably a logical name).

8) Drop it in base, start a new game, and Bob's your uncle.

I don't know how, and I don't know why, but this is totally Sheep's fault.

cultist or reborn are the two that spring to mind. They use their weapons primarily and force powers as backup, and since fists are a weapon class, they'll fight and only use the force abilities to supplement their fighting skills.

That's pretty much in theory, though. Any AI class associated with an NPC type which prefers weapons over force should be just fine for the purpose.

Thanks Kouen, I'll maybe have to re-read it in a little while but that saved me soo much NPC snooping. Now that you've helped me with that I have one more question. Is there a way to tweak MY inventory so that I start with Melee rather then a blaster pistol? Because using the cheat iknowkungfu gives me all force powers, and I don't want to have to cheat to get them back to zero and such. Thank you!

For that, look through the UI files and see what you can dig up. Otherwise, no, I can't see any way to change that without recoding a portion of the SP game, and as you're well aware, that's not possible.

Man, I hate the impossible. Is it possible to change the saber into that without coding? Because I could work with that too. I'm guessing the answer is somewhere in the "no" dierection, but it never hurt to ask.

I have no answer for you, since when I give answers people hate, they usually start hating *me*....

Lol, I odn't hate you Kouen, besides.... Its alot better to know it's immpossible than think its possible and spend alot of time trying to do it though its immpossible. :D

EDIT: Ok, I have choosen all the NPC's that I want to use WP_MELEE but when I try to change the weapon set it won't let me save it. I don't know why. I think it may be because I was trying to use Notepad and Wordpad. What is the NPC Tool of which you speak Kouen?

Dammit, I can't edit my other post again. Well I've found the NPC tool. (The search on JK3files is my friend!) So now I'm gonna try it out and get back to you once I get a result, good or bad.

EDIT: EDIT: The program won't work no matter where I open it from. It keeps telling me I don't have the proper models/skins/weapons/saber styles etc. so it doesn't let me edit them, what am I doing wrong?
