This is my first ever attempt at modelling and is being made for the Clone Wars Mod (recruiting, follow my sig). Now its reaching the end of its development cycle (at least the modelling stage) I thought I may as well make a topic here. Comments anyone?

Not yet (though I've read Eclypse tutorial), I want the model to be truly finished first.

Objects: 1 (Do I need to seperate it? As far as I can tell, you don't have to but...) Polies: around 2200

The polycount doesn't really matter, it's the number of vertices you have that is important. You should separate the model, as you can only have 1000 verts per group. Not only that, it makes it a lot easier when it comes time for UV mapping when you do smaller sections at a time rather than one large object.
