Hey everyone, I'm a newbie to the modeling scene. I was working my way through Virtue's Lightsaber 101 tutorial and got as far as the UV Mapping section. My problem is that when I try to manipulate the UV tool (i.e. resizing the orange square to encompass my whole object and have it slice diagonally through it), the orange square doesn't want to respond.

Anything that I have to reset or select in gmax in order to get this function working?

Thanks for any help.

yeh i had the same problem (hey just because i havent released anything dosent mean i havent done stuff :P) anyway with your problem make sure that when your trying to resize it that the 'select and manipulate' button is pushed in. Its a button at the top that looks like an 'X' with 4 dots at the end of the 'X'. 1 of the dots should be yellow

Hey guys, Got the uv map tool to work (thanks a bunch donkey 7890!). Now my problem is that when I unwrap my object, it comes out kind of wonky like so...

I'm pretty sure this is due to the fact that the saber I'm modeling is Count Dooku's, and the design is curved. This must be throwing off the uv tool somewhat but I'm not sure how to orient it properly in order to get a correct reading.

Or perhaps I need to do the saber is sections? If so, how do I do that?

Thanks.

Here's another screen capture which shows how I'm orienting the uv tool.
