Hiya, I've been mapping for a while now, but recently I've encountered a problem, this is my first time using 1.5.0, I used to use 1.3.7 just because it was the one most widely hosted... but anyway... now onto my problem...

When I load the skies texture menu, the actual Shader (the small white box with SKY) won't appear, I only get the up, dn, ft, etc... has anybody else encountered this problem?

I encountered a similar problem to this but came up with a system to help it make it less confusing for me. Here it is:

- I made 3 folders in my base/textures folder. customtextures, customicons, and customshaders.

- I made a custom icon for my skybox shader and put it in customicons

Spoiler: Show
sky.jpg

- I put my skybox pics in customtextures

- Created my shader (base/shaders/customshaders.shader), here's the shader:

Spoiler: Show

textures/customshaders/mysky { qer_editorimage textures/customicons/sky surfaceparm nomarks surfaceparm sky surfaceparm noimpact surfaceparm nodlight notc q3map_nolightmap skyParms textures/customtextures/mysky 1024 - }

This assumes that your sky textures are 1024x1024 and are called mysky_up.jpg, mysky_dn.jpg, etc.

- I then add my shader to base/shaders/shaderlist.txt by editing it so it looks like this:

Spoiler: Show
.....(symbol)bespin(symbol)bounty(symbol)byss(symbol)cairn(symbol)common(symbol)customshaders(symbol)danger(symbol)......

I then start up GtkRadiant, and load Textures > customshaders. In there you should see the sky icon labeled mysky . Apply that shader to where you want your sky, compile the map, and there you have your custom skybox. Hope this helps you out. :)

Hum, thanks, but I'm not adding a new skybox, it won't even show the shaders for the default ones, byss, bespin, yavin, etc.

I'm trying a redownload/reinstall...

Are any of the shaders showing up, or is it just the skies that aren't working?

It just seems to be the skies that aren't working... I'm thinking about rolling back to 1.3.7, might just save me the headache.

your sure you didnt filter out the shaders? If there are other shaders appearing, I would say that all the sky shaders are broken, bad pathes, that could be caused by messing around with the assets. And plus, use 1.4 if anything. You can get it by going to GTKRadiant, Elite Force 2 Downloads, Elite Force 2 Mapping Tools . 1.3.7 has deficiencies...large ones...1.4 doesnt have most, if not all, of those.
