First off, I made a flat brush (rather large) as the beginnings of an outside area. I saved the map so I could come back to it later. I open it, the flat brush is gone. Not hidden, moved, or anything, just gone. I made another, saved, its was gone (and I repeated this about 8 times) The brush wouldnt stay. Finally, I restarted my computer, made the brush, and it stayed. I though all was fine, but OOOOH no. Unfortunately for me, I spent about 2 hours making some cliffs and mountains with brushes, saved it and went to bed. Today when I came back to work on the outside area, to my horror, almost ALL of the brushes I had worked on last night are gone, including the ground brush.

Im really pissed, because they looked good, and I thought I was almost done with that area. Wtf is going on?

Note: Im absolutely positive I saved it. I even checked the autosave, theyre not in there either

Heh, I guess that wouldve helped

System: XP pro (SP 3) 2 GB RAM 80 GB HDD (7200 RPM) ~30 GB free space AMD Athlon 4000+ 2.4 GHz ATi Xpress 200 128 mb integrated graphics (teh suck)

Im using GTK 1.5. I use the save button in the top left corner, or the file>save button. Autosave is every 5 mins. Brushes (after the stuff I worked on disappeared. There were about 20-30 brushes that disappeared): 4365 entities: 233

Try a BSP Compile, it will probs be there if you use "V" Alot on a square brush, Radient cannot handel it so when you load up next time it will not be there, But oh yes it is, i havent found a way to solve this problem yet so i usually but a bigger brush over this to cover it, hope that helps.

Just tried what you said, no luck. It still went away :/

By using "V" a lot, you mean the vertex mover? (V shortcut?). Some of the brushes that are disappearing are just flat squares, untouched by the vertex tool, others I used the edge tool on to make look like rocks and stuff, theyre gone too

EDIT: I copied the brushes to a completely new map file, they still disappeared. I then moved them to near the 0, 0 coordinate mark, and they didnt disappear. They still had TONS of room before they got near the end of the building area (you know, where the grid stops and you cant make things?) Is there some invisible cut off point? Do I need to move my map over, or is there a way I can fix this?

Have you checked your map file in a text editor (like Notepad) to see it's not just some Radiant glitch?

Are you trying to save into a directory where you don't have a suitable access level?

I have full admin control of my computer. What would I be looking for in the map in notepad?

try putting a spawner when before you save the map, if you don't it starts at 0 0 where you cant see your brushes unless you use the show all brushes at the top (button that looks like a window)
