"New" doesn't mean "good" or "working properly".

I'm first guess is Vista.

My second guess is your system specs are too low for what you are trying to compile. What are your system specs?

Even thought I personally prefer 1.4, I suggest trying to compile with 1.5 and see if that works.

Well your systems specs look good overall, so I'm guessing Vista (yeah I know I'm biased).

I think 1.5 is supposed to be more Vista compatable or something, so I'd try that.

1.4 wont work very well with vista. Try with 1.5 and see if that solves it. I'm 100% sure that its the problem. If not, just come back here.

MAX_MAP_VISIBILITY means you reached VIS's upper limit. However, it IS fixable. Anything brushes that aren't structural (ie. chairs, consoles, etc) should be made into detail brushes. Also make sure to use caulk on any non-visible faces.
