I didn't make it!
hi there! well im new to the forums, and this will be my first post. Anyways, i have been doing effects with lightsabers for quite some time, and now i wish to take my skill to the next level. i would like to make my very own lightsaber hilt. i have searched the forums and found a couple toipics like this, but they are not told in simple form. so if anyone could help me out that would be so totally kool =D. i want to know everything, from what program i need, to how to use it in game. i would be so grateful to anyone who helps me out, so i just want to say thank you for lsitening! =D
:P I still need trauma to help me get MINE ingame, but you need either 3DS MAX or Milkshape to model the weapons themselves. Also get the SDK(source development kit) from PCGamemods, which has mod and md3 view. You'll probably need pakscape and good image editing software
you can get gmax and the addon for it called tempest... both are free.. gmax is to model it and tempest is to import it into a .md3 file
I personally would suggest Milkshape, as though I am far from skilled with it I made a saber hilt just by screwing around with it.

Can I make weapon moddels in lightwave? it uses md3 format.
Haruki Exodis:P I still need trauma to help me get MINE ingame
You were not there when I came back from having dinner >_>
Heres a link where I explained someone how to get a hilt in game (a hilt modelled on Milkshape) http://forums.filefront.com/showthread.php?t=189668
Yeah, i was using that. but the problem is, i couldnt/dont know how to name the TAG files. i made the triangle... where do i name it?
Well. if you are using gmax what is the easiest for hilts i suggest you take a look at the site http://www.thejediacademy.net/~virtue/tutorials/hilts/part1.html. It helped me alot
It is to be saved on the same file as your model, just name it tag_blade1, you can add 8 tags, locate it where the blade is supposed to come from.

Okay, back on topic. This is Junji's thread, not Haruki's ;) I hope some of their blathering helped you out, Junji. I'd suggest if you want something free to use go with Gmax -- I don't know about that tempest thing, but you could probably find it on google. If you want to actually pay for software, probably go with Milkshape 3D, although I've never used it so I can't comment well on it.
