okay mate i'll tell you something what you want to do is porting and that's not osemthing people like to see over here , it's "okay" for private use though just dont release ported stuff to the public

anyway with gamx yo uwont get far , gmax is only capable of making weaponmodels for jka to work at playermodels you need either 3ds max 4-8 or softimage Modtool , which is free so you might want to check that one out , if you're really interested in learning to create playermodels for jka

oh btw links to tutorials and other useful things can be fonud here so check this out : http://forums.filefront.com/sw-jk3-modding-mapping-editing/333326-jka-modding-tutorials-tools-updated-april-27th-2011-a.html

That's coding homie. You need to learn a whole new language. Or scripting. Anyway your best bet is to start with skinning. Like me

You want to learn coding through skype? Try taking a class at your local community college. Would be much more efficient. In lieu of that, pick up a book from the lirbary. Or... you know... read the tutorials we've provided.

Why? Cause normal is boring.

I don't think you understand how big of a bite you've taken. A quality model can take a week, an excellent texture just as long, if not more. A great map can take a year. This isn't something you can do over a weekend.

Well, if by custom quest you mean a single-player mod, like this:

http://jediknight3.filefront.com/file/Eve_of_Redemption;100491

That sort of thing doesn't actually require any C coding. It will require scripting events with BehavEd, but that's much easier to pick up than coding. You'll also want to pick up a copy of Radiant, the map making program for JK3, and definitely check out RichDiesal's mapping tutorials. They're the best way to get started with mapping.

RichDiesal's JK2Radiant Mapsource - Mapping University

As for scripting tutorials...well, a lot of the good ones were hosted on Map-Craft, which is sadly no more. I might have a tutorial or two saved on my other computer, though. If you're interested, just pm me your email.
